Which country does this flag belong to?
Every mistake reveals a hint. If you don’t know, press Skip: you use a guess and see the next hint. The circles show which colors of the mystery flag your answer has.
How to play CakeFlag
CakeFlag is a daily flag quiz: a guess the flag game with a twist. You don’t see the flag: you see a pie chart with the exact share of each of its colors. If the flag is half red and half white, so is the pie. You have 6 guesses to work out which country it belongs to.
Type a country and press Guess. Under each guess you’ll see which colors it shares with the mystery flag. Two similar shades, like two different reds, count as the same color.
Every mistake reveals a hint, always in this order: flag design, symbol, continent, country outline and first letter. If you’re stuck, Skip uses a guess and shows you the next hint. There are 208 possible countries and territories: the 193 UN members, Vatican City, Palestine and 13 territories with their own flag.
Example
We use Poland because it’s never the Daily answer: its pie is the same as Indonesia’s and Monaco’s. That way this example doesn’t spoil anyone’s game.
- The pie is half white and half red. You try Japan: it has both colors, but it’s not the one. Hint 1 appears: "Horizontal stripes (2)".
- You try Indonesia, which has two stripes, one red and one white. Not that one either. Hint 2: "No coat of arms or symbols".
- You press Skip. Hint 3: "Europe".
- You type Poland: Correct!, on guess 4.
Your result to share is 4/6 🟨🟨⬜🟩: the first two guesses had colors from the flag and you skipped the third. In the Daily Challenge, getting it on guess 4 is worth 11 of 20 points.
FAQ
How often does the flag change?
It changes at midnight your local time. It’s the same flag for everyone.
Can I play previous days?
No. The Daily is only today’s. To keep playing, there’s Practice mode: random flags, as many as you like. It doesn’t count toward your stats or your streak.
Can I use it to learn the flags of the world?
Yes. It works as a flag quiz: Practice shows random flags, as many as you like, and after each game, you see the real flag and its country. To review at your own pace, Countries of the world has every country’s flag with the share of each color.
How is the score calculated?
In the Daily, your result is the guess you got it on (for example, 3/6), or X/6 if you didn’t. In the Daily Challenge, CakeFlag is worth up to 20 points: 20 if you get it on the 1st guess, then 17, 14, 11, 8 and 5 on the last one. If you don’t get it, it’s 0. Your streak goes up by one every day you win and goes back to zero if you lose or miss a day.
How do I share my result?
When you finish, Copy result copies a text with the link and squares: 🟩 correct, 🟨 a guess with at least one color in common, ⬛ a guess with no colors in common and ⬜ skipped. The button next to it opens a menu to share on WhatsApp, X, Telegram and other apps.
Do I need an account?
No. It’s free and you don’t need an account: your stats are saved in your browser. To keep the same progress on your phone and computer, you can sign in with Google (👤 button). More in the Privacy Policy.
